KM Patel Institute of Physiotherapy

KM Patel Institute of Physiotherapy (KMPIP), a unit of the Charutar Arogya Mandal, was started in 1999. It offers 30 seats for its 4.5 years Bachelor of Physical Therapy (BPT) course and five seats for the two year Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) course; both affiliated to the Sardar Patel University. The institute has been recognised by the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, which is the only official national body for physiotherapists in India and is a member of World Confederation for Physical Therapists. The faculty at KMPIP regularly participate in various seminars and conferences to keep themselves abreast of the latest developments in the field. Its students are actively involved in organising events like 'Physio Week' and 'Conference of the Physiotherapy College Students of Gujarat' which leads to their holistic development and not just academic. KMPIP runs a full-fledged OPD with ultra-modern, highly sophisticated equipments. It has computerised EMG/NCV equipment, which is a highly valuable tool in diagnosing the neurological problems. It also has a special OPD dedicated to the patients with neurological disabilities and has a modern whole body gym with professional trainers. The IP Department of the Institute caters to the needs of in-patients who are admitted to Shree Krishna Hospital (SKH). KMPIP also runs an orthotic/prosthetic workshop, effectively contributing to complete rehabilitation. It also collaborates with other departments of the Pramukhswami Medical College and SKH in various research activities apart from conducting those of its own.
